On January 1t, Latvia started its turn of the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union.
Launching the 315 billion euro investment plan for the bloc will be the key priority, but the Russian-Ukrainian crisis will also be on the agenda of this Presidency.
As a Baltic state and former Soviet Republic -- and with a total gas dependence on Russia --, Latvia's EU role and attitude will be even more challenging towards the Kremlin.
