According to a European study, a third of women have been physically, sexually and also psychologically abused. Words can be worse than physical violence, but this kind of hurt is forgotten and hard to detect, said Viviane Teitelbaum, chair of the Women's European Lobby. Mariya Gabriel, member of the European Parliament, stressed that emotional violence affects young people and so "prevention and education" programmes in schools are important.
