More match fixing took place in Europe in 2013-2014, according to the annual report made by Federbet, a European federation charged with detecting illegal practices in sports betting. Marc Tarabella, member of the European Parliament, backed the report linked with fraud and sport. He is worried about the increase of match fixing in lower division teams and in Eastern European countries, because the players there are paid less and are easier to be corrupted. He called for stricter enforcement of penalties.
