"Into the great unknown"...how dramatic was that? Abigail thought as she stepped into the stagecoach.
Her husband, Edward, was an accomplished milliner employed with the famous Bee Hive Clothing House. He and his wife had been sent to Atlanta to start up another clothing house since now the war was over.
Abigail had never been south of Virginia, how would Atlanta differ from her beloved home of New Haven, Connecticut?
Edward had warned her there would still be unrest in the southern states, perhaps for years to come. So, steeling her nerves, she and Edward packed up their home and headed south.
This is the journal that never left her side, made for her by her dear husband.
If only he knew the doubts and fears she wrote about inside.
